I'm putting my "Stamp On It" today!
Welcome to day ONE of the
Our head cheerleader
Thearica of Pigtales and Quilts
has done a super job of rounding us 'stampers' up
(or maybe that should read - she's really glued us down
...in a good way of course)
either way...
I'm sure you'll have fun visiting everyone between now and July 3.
Thank you as well
Madame Samm of !SewWeQuilt!
for another fun and inspiring challenge!
Visit the Mdm for a chance to win something fun and wonderful when you leave a comment on her page.
Our goal was to create a "Mini Quilt Stamp" that would tell you a little about where we are from..do we deal with rubles or Euros...pounds or what?
Ok...mini is such a relative term dontcha think?
The Madame said we could make our 'mini' ANY size...even 14'x14'
(I guess if your name was Igor and you stood 77 feet tall, a 14 foot stamp would be mini)
My "mini" stamp is 13" x 15-1/2"
(Igor thinks it's uber-mini)
It represents my
chosen home of
Florida!
Naturally I had to include a flamingo.
And the Florida Sunshine.
I took a survey and asked several customers
"How much is a First Class Stamp?"
Nobody knew for sure.
Nobody.
The USPS has been marketing "Forever"stamps for a few years now...
The cost is whatever the going rate is 'that day'...
and they are good to use...
well...
Forever!
Works for me.
The flower in her 'hair' represents
the Orange Blossom.
(our state flower - and yes, the real deal looks different...so use your imagination)
Dontcha just dig her Orange 'shades' and her beaded glasses holder?
The lenses were cut from a silvery cellophane candy bag.
(yes...I ate all the candy...HAD to, so I could cut up the bag)
What's on the back?
I'm so glad you asked....
Sweet Florida Oranges baby!
I pondered for days and nights about the stamp "edge"....
in the end, I used some great
Black & White Chevron fabric from Riley Blake for effect.
It's a little wonky...but I'm a little wonky too.
So that's ok.
There is no "postmark" on the stamp....
are you kidding?
This stamp will never be used on an envelope....
unless of course...
I become pen pals
with Igor.
Thanks so much for hopping by today...
I enjoyed making my Florida Stamp...
it was fun to have a little 'me' time to play...
Most evenings are now spent in the great outdoors...
with my new friend....
Mr. Lawnmower.....
don't ask.
Enjoy my Stamp On It buddies today
for some really
First Class Fun!

ReplyDeleteOh Lynn you have never ceased to surprise me. I bet you could hear my laughing out loudly all the way from the south of Sweden to Florida. I love, love your birdie, she is so awesome. You are a woman full of fantasy and joy. Thank you very much for sharing your work and given me such joy.
ReplyDeleteDo you feel the hugs coming from me all the way from Malmö, Sweden?
I love your take on this Blog Hop. Of course you had to eat all the sweets to get the perfect match for the sunglasses, it would have been a waste not to:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful stamp!
Your flamingo is priceless, so it's appropriate you used the forever designation for your postage!
ReplyDeleteYes... this is a first class stamp for sure! Love your stylin' flamingo and those candy wrapper glasses..... such fun!
ReplyDeleteSo creative! Love it.
ReplyDeleteand dear igor...you certainly have a funny lady in your corner....we love her stamp...glasses and all

ReplyDeleteI livI live in Florida andi am so loving your stamp. Such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove that flamingo...great work and those oranges on the back look yummy :)
ReplyDeleteOf course you had to eat the candy, it was for a good artistic cause! lol Love your "groovy" stamp, thanks for sharing. vickise at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteIt's always such fun to visit your blog and read your posts...this morning is no different. I love that flamingo and the wonky (like you) edge around it. And those glasses are just too cute, cute, cute! I'm glad they have Forever stamps--I can't ever remember how much a stamp is, either. LOL
ReplyDeleteCongrats on placing today...your designs are always fun!
ReplyDeleteYou just had to eat the candy, huh, love the sunglasses and the embroidery.

ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love the flamingo and her style. :-)

ReplyDeleteOMG you crack me up! Great stamp. Congrats on being chosen.
ReplyDeleteI am falling out of the chair laughing, I think Igor would love to get mail from you. Your stamp is on the money no matter how much a stamp cost.
ReplyDeleteGoodness gracious! this is the funniest stamp I've seen in a long time! I have no trouble believing that the flower is an orange blossom..I'm looking at a flamingo wearing sunglasses after all! Great stamp! Hope Igor doesn't try and steal it!
ReplyDeleteGreat...Great...Great project. You are my favorite stamp. Love the colro love the creativity love the Forida Flamingo and sunshine. I allways love to see your projects.
ReplyDeleteOh Lynn you crack me up!!! Igor's friend, ha ha. Love your flamingo stamp it's so darling and so YOU. The lenses on the sunglasses is a great idea, plus you got the bonus of eating the candy...score! You should design your ideas into patterns, really they are so great.
ReplyDeleteYou have amazed once again! What a great stamp!!! Lov ethe flamingo...those sunglasses are the greatest! Your projects always have such humor in them! Just makes my day:)
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL stamp! I'm a "snowbird" from Illinois and I truly love your rendition of the Florida stamp! I want one!!! Right on!!! thanks for sharing - made my day!!!
ReplyDeleteHow creative, I love the Flamingo and his groovy glasses, what fun you have a wonderful imagination and make us all laugh.
ReplyDeleteI always love visiting and seeing what kind of trouble you get into! This is another reason why. Now who would have thought to use the cellophane from a bag for glasses! I am definatly going to have to think outside of the box more! And as for postage, I had to go online and look it up myself. How sad is that? LOL!! Your right Forever is all we know. That's the way the post office keeps raising the rates and hiding it from us! hahahahaha Great job my dear!
ReplyDeleteVery cute stamp, love the flamingo. ANd the oranges on the back, how perfect.
ReplyDeleteYour stamp looks quite tropical. What fun you and Igor could have, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI think it is 46 cents but they are apt to change it again in a few months. No wonder no one knows as we don't have time to get a number etched in our brains.
I love your stamp! The flamingo is perfect!! Thanks for hopping with us :o)
ReplyDeleteYou know the US Postal Service has issued some state stamps through the years. Maybe you should send yours in for consideration. Postage is 46 cents for first class for an ounce or under (for now).
ReplyDeleteLove coming to see what you come up with on these hops. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, I guess you could also say Thearica "stampeded" you all.
