EQ Seasons Row-A-Long

Welcome to a most fantastic Row-A-Long where you will find amazing quilt rows
designed just for you by several fabulous quilt artists!
EQ Seasons Row Along

I am soooo excited to be participating....
and want to give a special shout out to the gal who first invited me to play along....

And very special Giant HUGS and Quilt KISSES for the exceptional

Marian has devoted countless hours preparing us all
and I exaggerate NOT when I say I couldn't have completed this post without her expert help!

Now on with the show....
Let's Row.....A - Long!

For my season I chose "winter" and have prepared a most delightful row of Holiday Packages.

I designed the each block using EQ6 (my favorite EVER program).
Imagine this row in your holiday quilt - or maybe even by itself as a festive table runner.

Thank you to Northcott Fabrics for the simply luscious Toscany fab you provided for our backgrounds!
As you can see I used lots of Northcott Holiday prints and wonderful Artisan Spirit as well.
More holiday goodness from my Quilting Treasures stash!

Use fabs from your stash - you don't need very much for each package. I used less than a fat quarter of any one print for the multiple pkgs you see above.
Wouldn't this look just scrap-a-licious if you used a different print for each giftee-treat?

PDF Pattern Click Here

If you are an EQ user (6 or higher)
Click HERE for a PJ6 file
Reminder...click on the "Notecard" for each individual block to see all info.

One of the items I used to help me lay out each block and keep things straight
(always a challenge...especially with our kittehs running round)
was a wonderful project board a made following
a super tutorial from
Lori Holt of Bee In My Bonnet.
I've made several boards - just right and oh so perfect to keep little pieces together,
and super easy to transport to the sewing machine for stitching.

Above you see one of the blocks as I laid out the pieces to form the block.
All the "pressies" are made with squares, rectangles and the magic corners!

You might also notice on the top right sidebar is a link to the 30" 2014 Row by Row pattern
I designed last year for our shop give away.
Yes, it was surely the inspiration for this row-a-long design....
because really....
Who doesn't love MORE presents?

Here is the list of today's Row - A - Long'ers....
Be sure to visit each one and be prepared to be amazed!

Trying To Get Back.......

Helloooooooooo Friends....
Eegads....I knew I'd not been here for awhile....just didn't realize HOW long it's been.
The Spouse and I are doing fine....we're in the midst of the

Life since the end of June has been...
eat...
sleep...
cut kits...
repeat....

I'ld mentioned several posts back that my dear little red lap top computer was nearing the end...
we did manage to keep her on life support for several more months....

She finally gave up the ghost and now I'm dealing with trying to make friends with my new/old Dell...
It's a love/hate relationship...

And then today this happened....
Sharing a post I just added to Facebook....

And so it goes......
"Still in mourning over the demise of my longtime assistant Ms.Della
(my little red Dell Studio LT)
....relations with her replacement have not been all that amicable.

I have used Print Shop - 4EVER...don't judge...
it's what I KNOW!

Trying to load the program since last evening...
only to realize how really antiquated it is
(then again...so am I...perfect match)...

Error messages that some "Framework" NEEDED from Microsoft
is NOT compatible with my 'platform'

(that in itself sounds rather personal...how dare they judge my platform!)

Did some googling...
found advice that I could in fact download said "framework"....
learned how to fool my 'now' laptop' into thinking they were just made for each other......

....I read the steps

.....and decided to visit our computer geeks next door for help
(I know I'm a quilter...NOT a computer gal...I'm ok with that)....

.....they offered to help but not until next week...
maybe...
(that's ok I know they stay very busy)

Decided to give it a whirl and try on my own...
after all the worse that could happen is that I'd just uninstall what didn't work
(computereze peeps...I hear you snickering)....
but guess what?

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I.AM.AMAZING!
(lol...still humble but everyone deserves 5 seconds to be a Rock Star)

I still have to upload a ton of files from my old gal...
sadly they are being held hostage in Ms Della's oh-so-hard-drive

We will need the aid of our computer neighbors with that one.

Meanwhile...
Really Trying To Get Back!
Have missed you all!

And now....we return to our previous scheduled program....

Sweet Tweets - Tree Bird Blog Hop

It seems like I've been flapping my wings
like a big pink bird...
since the holidays...

It's so refreshing to finally be taking the time to land...
stop...
breathe...
and play!!!

Welcome to day THREE of

It's my day to fly!

Chances are when you think about birds in trees...
a peacock is not the first feathered friend that comes to mind.

And then came "Duke"....
Wishing I'd had a better angle for the picture above...
and my real camera in hand instead of the one on my phone..
but yes...that indeed is a peacock high up in our pines.

Here on our gazebo roof...
a little closer, but taken against the light...
Do you see the "bird watchers" in the upper left corner?
I didn't remember an audience....
It took me awhile to realize they were actually "leaves".

Ah...finally a better angle...
and we have color!

We do not know if Duke has a home..
but we are guessing he's just a wandering gypsy.
He will spend a few nights in the trees behind our house....
and then he's gone...
sometimes for weeks at a time.

When he returns...
it's always time for a treat.
He loves Grapes!
Quite the gentleman too as he delicately takes my offerings.

Duke often visits our front deck
and will entertain us with a little dance....
spreading those awesome tail feathers...
such brilliant colors!

I've yet to have my camera or phone ready when he's prancing about.
Tho it didn't happen this time around...
one day I'll capture that moment...
and there will be a quilt!

So now my fine feathered friends...
the real reason you're here...
let the bird biz begin.

I really just wanted...
needed...
 to have some fun.

We have many wonderful fabrics from Elizabeth's Studios in our shop
but we can't possibly carry everything out there...
I've simply loved all the beautiful creations made from Tracy Lizottes'
Beautiful Birds collection.
Since we do not carry the line...
I decided to make my own sweet tweets.

With an idea in my head....
it was time to pull some fabrics....
Not all would be used...
and others would be added....
that's what quilters do after all!

We recently enjoyed the company of  Quiltville's Bonnie Hunter
at our quilt shop here in Florida.
She taught her fabulous
Crumb Piecing Workshop...
and tho as shop keep I wasn't able to sit and be a student,
I listened.....
and I watched.....
and I took mental notes!

And then I played!
Best of all.....I HAD FUN!

I grew a "crumb" tree....
Okay...our Quiltville gal didn't actually make a crumb tree...
but if she had...it coulda looked like that!

Then I...
snipped...
patched...
and  hatched....
some crazy colorful birds...
crumb style of course.
My birds were pieced willy nilly - but inspired
by a wonderful wonky bird tutorial from Samelia's Mum.

Not leaving it to chance that you would not recognize the 'tree' or the 'birds'
I couldn't resist trying and including some fun letters inspired by Bonnie's workshop!

Added some buttons....
lookie look at this cute little frog!

Put it all together and whaddaya got????

Can you tell I had me some FUN?

I love little quilted diddies...
This measures about 12"x18"...
Just the perfect size to hang just about anywhere!

Thanks again Bonnie for reminding me I had Tonya's book in my stash!

As I said earlier...Bonnie's visit happened earlier this month.
Which means my fun little quilt was done within the last week
(the last 4 days if you want to get technical...lol)

BUT...

I did have bird on the brain earlier in the year
when this hop was announced.

Made for my sweet birdie sis and fellow quilt shop owner
Nessa in Bar Harbor,Maine....
This little bird probably once lived in a tree....

until he moved to a furrier nest....

A sweet hummingbird quilt...
for an even sweeter friend in CA.

A project tote for moi
Flamingos of course!

Last but not least....
Fun with the same flamingo fabric used in the above tote.
I follow Mickey Depre and am loving her Castle Wall blocks...
My first true venture into hand piecing...
Just one made so far...but I see more in my future!

Thanx for the visit!

Special Thanks to our
Fabulous Cheerleader Lana
She kept our feathers in check!

And as always...Thanks to our
'tweet Mdm Samm of
Without her wonderful blog hop inspiration...
I wouldn't enjoy play time nearly as much!

Now spread your wings....
It's time to visit to our other birdie bloggers today:

Back Again and Flappin My Little Mouse Wings

Dear friends....
You must be thinking I fell down the mouse hole.
Eeeeek!
Life has just been a crazy whirlwind since the new year began.
We've just finished up with a very special and successful event at our shop last weekend...
FOUR years in the planning...
(including an almost total classroom overhaul since January)
Here's a little sneaky peek...
Me & The Spouse
and a
Very Special Guest...

(If you think our friend here looks like Quiltvilles Bonnie Hunter...you'd be thinking right!)

I'll be back to tell you more about that when I can catch my breath....
but for now....

It's almost time for sweet tweets to begin!

along with
are the ones to thank for keeping our wings a flapping!
