April Showers Mug Rug Blog Hop - My Day!

Every time I'm lucky enough to make the cut for one of these fabulous Blog Hops hosted by the
incomparable
I always think THIS is the best hop yet!

I don't know how she does it...each hop just gets
 better and better!

Maybe it's because Madam Samm picks such great
Cheerleaders...like
Erin from Sew at Home Mummy
who is leading the Cheers this time around!
Thank you  Ladies!
You've done an awesome job and I'm so proud and honored to be included.

I can't wait to show off my 'ruggies'...but first be sure to visit Madam Samm  - leave a comment on her blog - you just might win a prize!
Don't forget to hop in and say "hi" to the "Mummy" too!
(that always makes me LOL - I picture Erin wrapped up in colorful cotton jelly strips
...sorry, I have a vivid imagination...no wonder I don't sleep...much).

Here are the amazing bloggers I'm muggin' a rug with today:
FRIDAY, APRIL 12th
Bobbie @ From This to That
Leslie @ Les Quilts
Kristen @ Meadowbrook
Lavonna @ ZellerWear
UR Here->Lynn @ Thimblemouse & Spouse<-C'est Moi!
Amy @ Sew Incredibly Crazy
Martha @ Living Life
Shawn @ Creative Inspiraciones
Rhonda @ Sunrise at Ravelly's!
Toye @ Quilting Adventures of a Ginger

Jaxson was the inspiration for my first little rug.
Dontcha think his legs look about 10 ft long?

I tried to imagine him walking out in the rain...
knowing full well, he'd never want to get those little paws wet!

I couldn't find fabric I liked that looks like Jaxson, but since he's named after our
Jacksonville Jaguars mascot

Jaxson DeVille...
I thought the jaguar spots worked just fine!
A big THANKS to my dear friend "Auntie Ann" - the best darn button picker outer around!

I finished that mug rug last week and had NO plans to make another...
absolutely None!
Then coming back from a visit with mom...
sitting in traffic...
(you know I always get in trouble when I'm sitting in traffic)
I started thinking about a little post going around on FB that week...
"What are You? Check your month of birth..."
  or something like that...
anyways...
I was thinking about what the post said I was...
and then I knew...
there was another mug rug in me....
that just had to come out!

Sometime I just crack myself up.
(gosh...I hope some of you are laffin' too - I'd hate to be giggling alone)
I even traced my red glasses

I really wish mine were that bright!

While I was putting the finishing touches on "Ima" today...
I learned something new about mug rugs!
My good friend Ronda told me that
"buttons"
on mug rugs
are for
COOKIES!
Did you know that?
You rest your cookie on the button so it doesn't sit flat on the rug!
I was really going to 'hang' the Galoshes...
but Lookie Look!
Can you count 'em?
Four Buttons!
That means I can have
FOUR COOKIES!
Maybe I need to add a few more buttons on my turtle!
Who knew!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you smiled.
This is my 99th  post!
I almost missed the fact that this month...
I've been blogging for
One Year!
A Celebration is in the works!
Our 100th post will be on
MeOwZa MoNDay
April 15th!
The KiDees are planning a big whoop-dee-doo!
I hope you'll come back...
I can't wait to see that they have on their
little furry minds!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Your mug rugs are so original. Love them. I've not heard of buttons on them to rest a cookie. With me, I'd probably place my mug there and tip over the contents! :)Thanks for tip about the button though.

  67. I'm sad to say that I have not made a mug rug yet, not even for someone else. I guess I just haven't taken the time to make one. I did laugh as I read your post and then I realized that you must live in Jacksonville, FL. I grew up in a small town north of Jacksonville. Thank you for making me smile and laugh today. I love the Jaxson musg rug, but the Ima rug is too cute. Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I have not made a mug rug---yet! Who knew that the buttons were for cookies? Thx for that tidbit. Both of the rugs are just plain fun. You crack me up! I thought that the cat legged one was cute enough but then you topped it with the turtle! You would have my vote for most creative today but I should be fair and see what the others have done---only half way through today's list. I'll see what Mdm Samm thinks in a bit!

    ReplyDelete

  122. Yes, your post and mugs did put a big smile on my face! I didn't know about the buttons and cookies. I'll keep that in mind when designing my next mug rug. They are fun to make and we do use them all the time.

I just love to hear from you and I truly do read every comment. Sometimes life gets a wee bit crazy and I'm not always able to reply to them all...but I'll keep trying! If you are Anonymous or a no-reply blogger, leave your email with your comment, otherwise there's no way I can reply to you - and maybe you're okay with that - but if there's a give-away and you win...you'll never know!
